As your Montana spring black bear hunting Outfitter, we conducted our hunts in the area 280 during the second week of June. We have taken fall black bears during our early season rifle hunts in September and October, although this can vary due to snow pack. This trip is unique for its combination of bear hunting and excellent fly-fishing opportunities for West Slope Cutthroat and Rainbow Trout. The black bear hunt is a 7-day hunt, commencing with 1 day of packing into Meadow Creek Camp, then 5 full days of hunting/fishing, and the final day packing out.

Days start early in hunting camp, with an early horseback ride out after a hearty family-style breakfast, putting hunters in a prime hunting area before dawn. Hunting days are generally spent on foot, ending up back at camp or at the pickup point where the horses are waiting to carry hunters back to camp. For those who prefer a more relaxed hunt, a short hike from camp is available and can also be productive.

K Lazy 3 has all the creature comforts of home

Guests will enjoy a large, wholesome family-style dinner and the opportunity to trade stories about the one you bagged (or the one that got away). The accommodations in the K Lazy 3 hunting camps consist of an 18×24 cook tent, 14×17 sleeping tents (each holds up to 4), a shower tent at Meadow Creek Camp, bucket or bring a shower bag, and a tack/equipment tent. Each sleeping tent holds cots and foam pads, plenty of room for personal gear, and is comfortable and prepared for all types of weather. Meals are prepared and served family-style in the cook tent for breakfast and dinner, with daily sack lunches provided for each hunter. But, get ready cause you could go to a spike camp for an earlier hunt the next day… Guests will enjoy nourishing meals of roasts, ham, pork, steaks, vegetables, and plenty of fresh baked goodies.
