EQUIPMENT
This is a fully guided horseback pack trip where all you need to bring is personal gear, clothing, and personal items. We must pack all equipment on our mules. For this reason, we must limit each person to one or two duffle bags not to exceed 45 lbs total. Following is a check list to help your planning.

GEAR

  • 1 or 2 canvas or nylon duffle bags (not to exceed 45 lbs each)
  • Sleeping bag and pillow (pillow case stuffed with jacket)
  • Binoculars
  • Flashlight with spare batteries
  • Water bottle
  • Camera and film
  • Fishing gear
  • Insect repellant

CLOTHING:
Weather can vary from sunny and warm during the day and chilly in the evenings. It is better to wear layers than one single heavy item so pack accordingly.

  • Medium weight jacket with hood
  • Extra jeans
  • Light weight long underwear (polypropylen)
  • 2 pair of gloves - one light, one heavier
  • Hiking boots
  • Camp shoes (may be some mud)
  • Hooded sweater / sweatshirt
  • Wool and Cotton socks
  • Hats - one broad brim and a spare (baseball)

PERSONAL ITEMS:

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Towel, washcloth and soap
  • Compact mirror
  • Shaving gear
  • Chap stick
  • Sun glasses
  • Personal medications

When horseback trail riding, we recommend a wide brim hat and sun glasses with your warm jacket and rain gear tied to the back of your saddle. Of course your camera in easy access is a must. Your hiking boots will work for riding boots.

When packing, it is better to have something along and not need it, than to not have it and need it. Use common sense and try to stay under 45 lbs. total.
